My name is Justin Mangum, owner and barber at Justin’s Barbershop. Barbering is more than a profession to me. It is a lifelong passion rooted in heritage, craftsmanship, and community. I opened this shop to give people more than just a haircut. I wanted to create a place where stories are shared, friendships are built, and the spirit of the old-fashioned barbershop is alive and well.
I have always loved the charm and simplicity of The Andy Griffith Show, and I am especially inspired by Floyd the Barber. His calm spirit, gentle humor, and small-town values are a model of what a barber should be. That same atmosphere is what I aim to bring to every client who walks through my door.
Throughout the shop, you will find a collection of antiques and historical pieces that help tell the story of American barbering. One of the highlights is an original barber pole once owned by Perry Como. Long before he became famous as the Singing Barber, Perry Como worked in a barbershop in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania, cutting hair to support his family. His story is a reminder that every great journey starts with humble beginnings.
We also feature vintage barber chairs and a hat rack from Metcalf’s Barbershop, a downtown Columbus institution that served customers faithfully from the 1920s. These pieces are full of character and carry the weight of generations who sat in them before.
In another corner of the shop stands a shoeshine chair from Chancellor’s Men’s Clothing Store. This chair was in daily use from the 1950s until 2020, and it still carries the feel of a time when service, pride, and a polished shoe meant something.
Many of the items in my shop also come from my own childhood barbershop back in Tennessee. That small-town shop was where I first fell in love with the trade. The memories of those early days are still alive in every haircut I give today.
At Justin’s Barbershop, I offer more than just a place to get your hair cut. I offer a place to slow down, have a good conversation, and step into a world where tradition still matters. Whether you need a skin fade, a flattop, a beard trim, or a straight razor shave, I am here to serve you with excellence and care.
Come in and experience a barbershop where history, hospitality, and skill come together in every cut.
